This house, located in North Dallas, was typical of its era.  Built in 1955 it originally had a side-by-side living room and dining room across the front of the house to the left of the foyer.  The family room and kitchen were separate spaces at the back, and the master bedroom was on the same hall as the other bedrooms.

We turned the living/dining into one large formal dining room and the wall between the kitchen and family room was removed and the kitchen space rearranged a bit.  Part of one of the bedrooms was turned into an office and a hall extended from it to a newly-built master suite.
