Van Alstyne House

The house has 2,842 square feet of living space, front and rear covered porches, and a 3-car garage.  The builder wanted a house to give the feel of an old ranch but with some up-to-date touches.  We opted to use brick, cedar accents, and board and batten siding.

The house itself is a four bedroom, three-and-one-half bath design, with an open concept living area.  We made sure to use our square footage wisely and left out a formal dining room.  In this house we opted to have an over-sized dining area adjacent to the kitchen which can easily seat a large number of guests.

The master suite has direct access to the large back covered porch.  The master bath itself boasts a tub with a huge walk-in shower and a separate vanity area with a dresser and a 3-sided mirror.  The builder wanted a true tornado shelter, and the master closet serves as just that.  He used concrete block walls as well as a concrete ceiling, all of which were faced in sheetrock so they have a finished look.  It also has a steel door for added protection.
